At Henry Paul Funerals, we have established a reputation for carrying out all areas of our thorough services with care and dignity, helping you and your family through this difficult time. Our team conducts themselves with the highest levels of respect at all times, and are always on hand to offer any advice and support to guide you through the necessary steps when a loved one passes away.

When someone passes

When a loved one passes at home, you should telephone your doctor as soon as possible. Should your loved one have passed away in a nursing home, this will be done by the nursing staff. Once your doctor is satisfied with the cause of death, they will issue a Medical Certificate of Death, which you may be asked to collect from the surgery. After you have spoken with your doctor, get in touch with Henry Paul Funerals and our team will arrange a suitable time to visit your home and bring the deceased into our care until the funeral.

Should the death occur in hospital, the Sister or Staff Nurse will contact you and arrange for a doctor to issue a Medical Certificate of Death. You will need to collect the Certificate, as well as the deceased’s belongings, from the hospital, and inform the staff if the deceased is to be cremated or buried. Following this, contact Henry Paul Funerals to arrange a visit to the hospital to bring the deceased into our care until the funeral.

Henry Paul Funerals offers a full repatriation service to bring your deceased loved ones home, whether they have passed away in the UK or abroad. Our respectful team will take care of all the necessary arrangements on your behalf, and will be on hand to guide and advise you throughout the entire process.

If your loved one has died suddenly or unexpectedly, it is standard practice to involve the Coroner’s Office, especially in cases where the deceased has not been receiving regular care from a doctor. Once the relevant medical professionals have been notified, get in touch with us. Our team will advise you on the necessary procedures when dealing with the Coroner and will liaise with them on your behalf.

Registering a Death

The death should be registered before the funeral takes place, and must be registered within five days by the Registrar with responsibility for the district in which the person died or was an ordinary resident. It is suggested that you have a suitable payment method for copies of the Death Certificate. Once the death has been registered, the Registrar will issue the necessary certificates for cremation or burial, depending on your wishes.

We provide all our clients with a detailed fact sheet containing all the relevant information regarding the requirements of the Registrar, as well as all the details of any local Registrar’s offices. Please get in touch with us should you have any questions, or to see how we can help you.

Arranging a funeral

At Henry Paul Funerals, we understand that planning a funeral can often be confusing and upsetting, which is why we offer a bespoke funeral arrangement service to guide you through the entire process from start to finish. We are on hand to help you take care of all the practical arrangements, including advising you on the legal requirements, to help you create a fitting memorial and commemoration sure to reflect the deceased’s wishes.

We will work closely with you to understand what you need from our service, assisting you with the completion of any documentation, as well as the appropriate arrangements with your chosen venue, as well as any ministers, celebrants, cemeteries, and crematoriums. Whether you need traditional burial or cremation, a woodland burial, or a burial at sea, Henry Paul Funerals has a wide range of options to help you honour your family member’s memory. We can also place an obituary on your behalf, and collect all funeral donations for you to pass on to a charity of your choice.

Once the funeral plans have been established, we will provide you with a confirmation and summary detailing the arrangements, as well as a comprehensive estimate of the costs. Please note that the person making the arrangements must be authorised to make decisions and give instructions regarding the funeral, and will also be responsible for the cost.
